Tired Of Being Banished To The Couch? - Health and Fitness Articles

Snoring can make a person really self-conscious, but in some cases, that may be the least of one?s worries. In some cases, snoring issues can be a sign of a serious health problem. It could be your body letting you know that something is seriously wrong. The tips from this article can help anyone trying to figure out their snoring problems.

Eating dairy products can cause snoring. This is true even for those who are not known to be lactose intolerant. Dairy products stimulate your body to produce more phlegm, which can then fill your nose and throat and make it difficult to breathe. Avoid dairy several hours before bed to see if this makes a difference.

Sleeping pills can contribute to snoring, so you might actually get a better night?s sleep if you avoid them. Sleeping pills cause all of the muscles in your body to relax. The ones that keep your nasal passages open will sag, making the passages narrower. This will cause you to snore.

Snoring can be remedied by sleeping propped upon 2-3 pillows or by sleeping in a position similar to sitting. You keeps nasal drainage from bulking in your nose passages so that they can flow into the lungs. You should not snore at all in this position.

Nasal strips can help you gain snoring relief. These strips have an adhesive on the back that will adhere to the sides of the nose, pulling the nostrils open further. If your nostrils are held open, you won?t snore as much. These strips aren?t recommended for people that also suffer from sleep apnea.

People who are constantly congested because of allergies are a lot more likely to experience snoring while they sleep. When congested, your airways and nasal passages become congested, this may result in air being blocked and you end up snoring. In order to avoid snoring and sleep peacefully, try taking a mild decongestant before you go to bed.

Stay away from cigarettes if you tend to snore. Smoking results in tissues at the rear of the throat being irritated, and swelling can ensue. Swelling in the throat is a leading cause of snoring.

Try eating honey right before bed to help resolve snoring problems. Research has shown that honey can effectively open your airways. This makes it easier for you to breathe. Because of this, you?ll be snoring much less than you used to.

While snoring may be annoying, it also may be a sign of something that is wrong in the health department. Be proactive and consult a doctor should you notice that your body is signaling you through snoring. The tips above can help one find the causes of their condition, and can help them to sleep a bit better

NEW YORK (AP) ? A weak showing in home sales and more disappointing earnings reports are sending stocks lower on Wall Street, extending a weeklong slide.

Stocks had started out higher early Thursday following a strong profit report from Procter & Gamble, but indexes started to weaken in late morning trading after a realtor group said that the pace of home purchase contracts was leveling off.

That turned the stocks of homebuilders sharply lower. PulteGroup was off 4 percent, giving up an early gain. D.R. Horton and Toll Brothers each fell 3 percent.

In midday trading Thursday the Dow Jones industrial average was off 26 points at 13,051. It had been up 87.

The Standard & Poor's 500 fell two points to 1,407 and the Nasdaq fell two points to 2,979.

The stock market has been in a slump for more than a week because of the weak revenue numbers and lower profit projections that have emerged from the latest round of corporate earnings reports.

The Dow gained 127 points Oct. 16 but since then has managed only two daily gains, both of them meager. The average has lost 474 points since that last significant increase.

Among companies reporting earnings Thursday, infant formula maker Mead Johnson Nutrition plunged $6.09 to $63.42 after its revenue came in well below what Wall Street analysts were expecting. The company also cut its forecast for full-year earnings.

Profits at United Airlines declined with fewer people flying, and the company fell well short of Wall Street expectations. The stock fell 77 cents to $19.50, a loss of 4 percent.

Homebuilders fell broadly after the pace of growth in pending home sales slowed last month. PulteGroup, which returned to profitability in the third quarter, gave up an early gain and was trading down 89 cents at $16.56. Toll fell $1.22 to $34.03 and D.R. Horton fell 69 cents to $20.72.

Procter & Gamble was the biggest gainer in the Dow after the consumer products company, whose products include Tide, Gillette and Charmin, reported earnings that beat analysts' expectations. P&G rose $2.55 to $70.63.

Online game maker Zynga jumped 26 cents to $2.39 after the company reported revenue that was stronger than analysts had anticipated. The company also said it would cut costs and enter the gambling business.

Health insurer Aetna rose 38 cents to $44.33 after reporting a 2 percent gain in third-quarter earnings. Higher revenue and lower-than-expected health care claims helped the company beat Wall Street's profit expectations.

Apple and Amazon.com report earnings after the market closes.

European and Asian markets were mixed. The price of crude oil edged down 3 cents to $85.70 per barrel in New York after a week of heavy selling.

As investors moved into stocks, they sold U.S. government bonds, sending yields higher. The benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury note yielded 1.81 percent, up from 1.79 percent late Wednesday.

Wall Street gets it wrong on presidential politics, experts say

ScienceDaily (Oct. 24, 2012) ? With Election Day less than a month away, television is filled with talking heads spreading the conventional wisdom of what a Republican or Democrat president might mean for the economy.

But when it comes to the relationship between presidential politics and the behavior of the financial markets, a group of business researchers says that conventional wisdom might not be so wise.

The researchers reviewed more than 40 years of data (1965-2008) to examine the relationship between security returns and four variables:

  • the political affiliation of the president;
  • the presence or absence of political gridlock;
  • the presidential term cycle effect; and
  • Federal Reserve monetary policy.

While many academic papers have analyzed those factors separately, the authors of this study considered them simultaneously.

When all four of those factors were taken into account, the researchers concluded, many of the commonly held beliefs about how politics impact the market simply did not hold true.

Markets unmoved by a president's party affiliation

One of the most commonly repeated truisms called into question by the study is that the political affiliation of the president has an impact on the market. In reality, whether the president is a Republican or a Democrat is most often insignificant to the performance of the markets.

"While the party of the president garners much of the attention of the press, it appears that other factors have a much more prominent relationship with security returns," says Gerald Jensen, the Jones, Diedrich, Mennie professor of finance at the NIU College of Business. He has spent years researching the topics covered in the study.

The misconception about the president's party affiliation appears to have grown out of research that looked at isolated factors.

For instance, numerous studies have shown that stock returns (especially for small stocks) are substantially higher during Democratic presidencies relative to Republican administrations. Similarly, bond returns during Republican administrations are twice as high relative to returns generated during Democratic administrations.

However, Jensen and his colleagues found, when the other factors considered in this study are controlled, the difference in the performance of the markets across presidents from different parties is statistically insignificant.

Gridlock is not good

Many pundits and researchers maintain that political gridlock -- which occurs when different parties control the White House and the legislature -- is good for the market. Under such conditions, they reason, there is less chance of significant fiscal policy actions, which tend to disrupt financial markets.

In reality, the authors report, political harmony is better for equities.

That was especially true for smaller stock indexes where annualized returns were reportedly 22.38 percent higher during harmony as opposed to gridlock. Even when researchers adjusted for other factors, Jensen says, the benefits of political harmony remained clear.

Despite what the numbers say, the perception that gridlock is good has established itself. "It has been repeated so often I think that it has sort of been accepted as fact," Jensen says.

He speculates that people hang their argument on specific examples -- such as the Clinton presidency, when markets excelled despite political gridlock -- and fail to consider other evidence.

While it is clear that, during the period studied, political harmony coincided with strong equity performance, Jensen and his fellow researchers stop short of saying that there is a dependency between the two. "We have identified a relationship, but we aren't saying that one causes the other," he cautions.

Time will tell

While elections naturally bring up discussions of how politics influence the markets, Jensen and his colleagues found that political outcomes have little immediate impact. In fact, history has demonstrated that the most favorable return patterns are not manifested in the market for three years.

One theory is that the Federal Reserve loosens monetary policy in ways that reflect favorably upon incumbents in Congress and the White House to help encourage re-election. However, Jensen points out, even when the researchers adjusted for Fed policy changes, the economy seemed to consistently rally in the third year of a presidency.

It's all about the Fed

While much attention is focused on issues such as the president's political affiliation and gridlock, investors might be better served by paying less attention to those factors and more to how the election might affect Federal Reserve policy, Jensen says.

"A tightening of Fed monetary policy generally precedes poor equity market performance and increased inflationary pressures. Ultimately, that factor seems to carry the greatest weight, so that is what investors should pay attention to," he says.

"In the end, policies are more important than politics," he adds.

"While the chairman of the Federal Reserve is appointed by the president, I don't think people pay much attention to what party he comes from. Instead they watch what he is doing. Perhaps they should look at politicians the same way. It's not their party affiliations that are important, but the policies that they put forth."

The study, "What to Expect When You're Electing," was conducted by Jensen and co-authors Scott B. Beyer, associate professor at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Business; Luis Garcia-Feijoo, assistant professor at Florida Atlantic University College of Business; and Robert R. Johnson, professor of finance at Creighton University College of Business.

Key Findings

The key empirical findings reported in the study are consistent with the following:

  • Equity investors, especially those that target small-cap stocks, would be wise to monitor Fed policy actions, while paying limited attention to the party of the president. Investors should be particularly wary of a shift to a restrictive Fed monetary policy.
  • Contrary to the conventional view, equity investors should welcome political harmony; however, debt investors should prefer continued political gridlock.
  • Fed policy shifts warrant consideration as potential signals of coming inflationary pressures. A shift to a restrictive policy stance should alert investors to higher future inflation and support a re-allocation to securities that offer more inflation protection (e.g., commodities and TIPS).
  • Regardless of the political outcome in November, it appears that equity investors typically will have to wait until the third year of the next presidential term before reaping the benefits of the election season.

India gearing up for polio-free country tag

Having made unprecedented progress in polio eradication, India [ Images ] is now gearing up to be declared polio free by 2014 by guarding itself against the import of polio virus from neighbouring countries and by boosting routine immunisation.

Earlier this year, the World Health Organisation had removed India from the list of polio-endemic countries. If no fresh case is reported till 2014, the country will be declared polio free.

"However, the risk of polio persists as long as poliovirus transmission continues anywhere in the world," says Dr Ajay Khera, deputy commissioner at the Union ministry of health and family welfare, while pointing out that among the remaining polio endemic countries of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria, two of them are with close proximity to India.

Regular Polio immunisation is being carried out at five border points along the Indo-Pak border, at Baramulla and Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir [ Images ], Attari and Wagah in Punjab [ Images ] and Munabo in Rajasthan [ Images ].

To raise public awareness on the ravages of polio and garner support for eradication efforts, World Polio Day will be observed tomorrow across the globe.

The health ministry, along with its partners in World Health Organisation (WHO), Unicef and Rotary International, are taking special efforts across the country, particularly in the high-risk areas and among high-risk groups for polio -- such as migrant and mobile populations -- to ensure they are reached with polio vaccines.

The government has an Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan in place and is totally geared to roll out a rapid and intense response to any case of poliovirus importation anywhere in the country, officials said.

With its 6,500-member strong Social Mobilisation Network (SMNet) working with the most underserved communities and in the highest risk areas of Uttar Pradesh [ Images ] and Bihar, Unicef is focusing on strengthening routine immunisation.

"One of the biggest risks to the programme today is complacency. We need to ensure that the programme continues to be of the highest quality, to maximise childhood immunity to polio across the country and minimise the threat of virus importation," says Lieven Desomer, Chief Polio, Unicef India.

The SMNet community mobilisers are engaged in door-to-door counselling, community meetings as well as tracking and counselling of the families who have dropped out of routine immunisation.

"We continue to counsel parents on the need to protect their children against polio and address associated risk factors such as hygiene, sanitation, nutrition and diarrhea management," says the officer.

Siddhartha S Bose from the Indian National Polio Plus Committee run by Rotary International says, "We need strong vigilance on the borders so that the virus doesn't return to India. The threat is still there".

India has not reported any case of polio for over a-year -and-a-half, after an 18-month-old girl was crippled by polio in West Bengal's [ Images ] Howrah district in January 2011.

Cops: La. woman set herself on fire, wrote slurs

Investigators say the woman who claimed she was the victim of a violent racially-motivated attack fabricated the claims and actually set herself on fire. Paige Brown reports.

By Andrew Mach, NBC News

The Louisiana woman who told police that she was set on fire by three men and that her car had racial slurs smeared on it did the heinous actions she described herself, authorities now believe.

Sharmeka Moffitt, 20, told police she parked her car by a walking trail in Civitan Park in Winnsboro, La., on Sunday evening to go exercise when she was set on fire by three men who she described as wearing white hoodies. She was able to extinguish the flames herself and when police found her car, the letters "KKK" and the N-word had been scrawled across the hood.

But what had the rumblings of a hate crime was all?apparently a "self-inflicted situation," police said.

?In less than 24 hours, the state crime lab was able to analyze the evidence found at the scene, including a cigarette lighter, lighter fluid and also the hood of the car that had a paste-like substance spread across it, and it identified [Moffitt?s] fingerprints as well as some female DNA,? Louisiana State Police Capt. Doug Cain told NBC News. ?With this evidence, investigators were able to determine that she was alone in the park that night and made up the story.?

Stay informed with the latest headlines; sign up for our newsletter

Authorities released their findings at a press conference Tuesday evening.?The Louisiana State Police, the Winnsboro Police Department, the Franklin Parish Sheriff?s Department and the FBI were all assisting in the investigation. ?

?This has been a very disturbing case for all involved,? Franklin Parish Sheriff Kevin Cobb?said. ?All of the evidence indicates this was a self-inflicted situation.?

Cain said police have not yet spoken with Moffitt, who underwent surgery Tuesday to treat burns covering more than 60 percent of her body on her chest, back, arms and legs. ?We certainly hope to speak with her about it, but her health comes first,? Cain said. Moffitt remains in critical condition in the burn unit at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, the Shreveport Times reported.

A few hours after police said Moffitt had lied, nearly 130 residents of the?tight-knit?Winnsboro community attended a candlelight vigil at Civitan Park Tuesday night to offer prayers and support to Moffitt and her family.

In a statement, Moffitt?s family said, ?Our family is devastated to learn the circumstances surrounding our daughter?s injuries. While this was not the resolution we had expected, it is a resolution, and we appreciate the thorough investigation by the local and state police, as well as federal agencies.?

Val Horvath Davidson / The Shreveport Times

Edna Moffitt, the mother of burn victim Sharmeka Moffitt, wipes away tears during a press conference at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, La., on Tuesday.

?We are sincerely sorry for any problems this may have caused and wish to express our appreciation for the outpouring of love, prayers and support we have received from friends, acquaintances, church organizations and government officials.??

While Cain said he hasn?t seen anything of this nature in the area before, this isn?t the first time alleged hate crimes have been exposed as hoaxes.

A Nebraska woman who claimed she was the victim of a homophobic hate crime in July was subsequently charged with making false claims to police after they spent three weeks investigating the case and discovered no clues or leads in the case. ?

The woman, Charlie Rogers, 33, told police three men wearing black ski masks broke into her home during the early morning hours, bound her wrists and ankles with zip ties, beat her and carved anti-gay slurs into her arms and abdomen. Because of inconsistencies in Roger?s various accounts of the attack and conflicting forensic evidence, police arrested Rogers.

A Washington state woman who falsely claimed a stranger had thrown a cup of acid in her face in August 2010 later admitted her injuries were self-inflicted and part of an attempt to kill herself.

28-year-old Bethany Storro was charged with three counts of felony theft for allegedly taking more than $28,000 in donations from people believing she had been assaulted by a stranger. When the acid proved not to be fatal, Storro told a detective that she could at least get plastic surgery on her face.?

Police have not yet said whether Moffitt will face criminal charges due to the attack.

Frankin Parish District Attorney Mack Lancaster told NBC News that ?there is a distinct possibility that [Moffitt] might at this point be charged, but I has not yet received any investigative reports on the incident,? he said. ?We will review those reports just as in all cases and determine what, if any, charges will follow.?

Indian Corn Fall Wreath Tutorial | Positively Splendid {Crafts ...

After finishing up my outdoor fall decor last week, I knew I wanted to craft a new wreath for the space, as well.?There is something about a new wreath that makes me feel like I?m adding a smile to my front door!

Indian corn is such a vibrant, natural display of fall color at its finest, and I opted to use some mini Indian corn and a simple grapevine wreath for this project. Although this wreath only requires a few simple supplies, the end result is anything but ordinary! Let me show you how I put this together.

For this project, you will need?

  • Indian corn (I used 2 packages of 3 ears of mini Indian corn, and two large ears of Indian corn)
  • Grapevine wreath
  • Ribbon
  • Fabric scrap
  • Hot glue
  • Foam board
  • Decorative paper (I used wrapping paper)
  • Mod Podge
  • Foam brush

To begin, soften the husks of your corn by submerging them in warm water. A few seconds is all it takes to make them nice and pliable. Lay each ear of corn onto a piece of wax paper or freezer paper to dry slightly.

When the husks are dry enough to handle easily but still pliable, fold each husk piece down toward the ear of corn to form a pretty loop. The husks will bend easily, and you will likely find they will hold their shape on their own, but if you encounter any stubborn pieces, use hot glue to secure the loop into place.

Use hot glue to affix the ears of corn to your wreath, layering them in a way that showcases the pretty loops husk loops and the colorful kernels on each ear.

Cut a 3-inch strip of fabric, and wrap it around your wreath for another layer of color, securing it as you work with hot glue. (My fabric is from Joel Dewberry.)

Accent the wreath with a pretty ribbon bow, if desired.

I finished my wreath with a monogram made using foam board, which I covered with some fun faux bois wrapping paper from the dollar section at Target and Mod Podge. My friend Diane has a terrific tutorial for creating these monograms on her blog.

I love how the husks of the ears of corn mimic the look of flowers, and the rich fall colors make my heart happy!

Thanks so much for making me a part of your day!

Smoke inhalation is the major cause of death in fire victims due to cyanide poisoning. However, new research presented at CHEST 2012, the annual meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians, shows that a new antidote, cobinamide, may help reverse the effects of cyanide toxicity. Researchers from multiple institutions, including the University of California Irvine Medical Center, exposed six ventilator-supported New Zealand white rabbits to cold smoke breaths until toxic carbon monoxide levels were achieved, concurrent with intravenous cyanide infusion. Intravenous cobinamide was administered in treatment arm animals and compared with control responses. Results showed that intravenous cobinamide reversed cyanide toxicity in these animals in the face of smoke-induced carbon monoxide exposure, without evident adverse effects. Researchers concluded that cobinamide shows promise as a potential antidote for cyanide poisoning in smoke inhalation victims and that it could potentially be administered in mass casualty exposure scenarios. This study was presented during CHEST 2012, the annual meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians, held October 20 25, in Atlanta, Georgia.

This study was presented during CHEST 2012, the annual meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians, held October 20 25, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ryan Tells Iowa Obama Offers 'Blame and Frustration'

SIOUX CITY, Iowa-Paul Ryan hit the president at a short rally here, accusing him of becoming the "very kind of candidate he was then criticizing" four years ago.

"You see, the man we heard four years ago offering hope and change is the very kind of candidate he was then criticizing," Ryan said on the deck of a restaurant, Bev's on the River here. "He has become what he criticized. He's not offering hope and change, he's offering attack and blame and frustration."

The Republican vice presidential candidate spoke to over 700 people on an unseasonably warm northwestern Iowa day, greeting patrons inside the restaurant before coming outside and praising the crowd for coming together during the floods last year. He said the community "showed the rest of us in America, this is what Americans do when they come together to help one another."

He noted that Iowans have a "big responsibility" on Nov. 6. Iowa is one of a handful of swing states that could be crucial in determining which candidate wins the electoral college vote. A poll last week gave Obama a 51-43 lead in Iowa.

"This is the heart and soul of America, and you know what?" Ryan asked the crowd. "Right here in the Midwest, right here in Iowa, you have a big responsibility, you have a big obligation, you have a big opportunity because Iowans could be the ones who decide the direction of this country."

The Wisconsin congressman did not mention the shooting in Brookfield, Wisc., today that left three people dead, but he issued a statement shortly after the shooting, writing that he and his wife Janna "were shocked and saddened by the news from Brookfield today."

The shooting occurred about 25 miles where seven people were killed at a Sikh Temple by a white supremacist in August.

"As our community continues to heal from August's tragic violence, our thoughts and prayers are with today's victims and their loved ones," Ryan said in a statement.

The Sikh Temple shooting took place in his congressional district. Today's shooting occurred in a neighboring district.

Ryan will be heading back to his home state around Halloween for a campaign tour that will also allow him to accompany his three young children trick or treating. Polls in Wisconsin still show the president leading, but Ryan's selection has put the state in contention. No Republican has won Wisconsin in a presidential election since 1984.

Slow Cooker Meatball Subs | Recipe Diaries

I?m just going to say, I wasn?t a fan of Subway?s Meatball sandwich. It just wasn?t good to me. One of the girls at work brought meatball subs for treat day one time and they were just fantastic and changed mind. I made this recipe really simple. And yes, you can have a turkey meatball sub and still stay on track!

Go to the store, pick up a bag of 24 oz Turkey meatballs from Jeanie-0. There are a couple brands out there that do make lean turkey meatballs like Foster Farms. I couldn?t find them at all. Or if you?re feeling ambitious make your own turkey meatballs at home.? Come home, turn on the slow cooker. Dump the marinara sauce into the slow cooker and meatballs. This is best to do on the weekends since they only take about 4 to 5 hours to cook. If you come home during the lunch hour like I do, then by all means do it then. I?m not stopping you. :) When the meatballs are done, place 4 of them with the sauce on top of some bread and some cheese. Turn on the boiler and toast the bread until they?re brown and the cheese is melted. Don?t walk away from your boiler too, or else you may have some burnt meatball subs when you come back. Enjoy!

Servings:8 (3 Meatballs per sub)

This was hard trying to figure out points plus for. fatsecret and weight watchers are giving me two different points plus for this.

Step 4
The meatball subs are done when the cheese is melted and the bread is slightly brown on top.

Joint property disputes (among 3 brothers)

i have purchased a plot and constructed house with 02 other brothers. Initially only 02 floors constructed and since then i have been started living in ground floor considering my contribution is much more than their contribution in construction of house. Thereafter on my transfer to other location my two brothers requested me to allow him to live in the house and on posting back to delhi they will vacate the ground floor. On my refusal they started quarreling with me and my family. After living in 5 yrs in the ground floor my both brother made attempt to kill me. On the request of my relatives i agreed to vacate the ground floor and construct second floor. A mou signed and as per conditions i have given six months time for construction of second floor in the house after receiving of fixed amt fm both the brothers. They have made part payment and waited to proceed to my place of duty. On reaching my duty place i have recd a legal notice fm both the brothers stating that i have no right on the said property and threaten to vacate the ground floor otherwise they forceful enter in my ground floor. After 03 months i visited my house i have stunned to see that one of my brother captured my ground floor with all my personal belonging which i kept in the house by forceful opening the doors. After intervention of local police and relatives they have again insisted to sign another agreement and this time they paid the balance amt. On starting construction, they have made all the efforts so that i could not able to construct the second floor and go out of the house. One of my brother who serving in mha at that time started sending representation that i have grabbed the house with ill intention and make all efforts but on my visit to mha they have thrown him out to another ministry. Since they have not agreed to obey the settlement and tried to capture the house by adopting any means i have not started repaying home loan installment fm the date of their illegal capture of my ground floor and now the bank referred the matter to drt for debt recovery.
The summarise case is as under :-
i) sale deed of said plot is among all the three brothers.
Ii) housing loan taken fm bank in the joint name of one of my brother with me and another brother is co-borrower.
Iii) map for construction of 03 floor passed fm gda.
Iv) the house constructed against the approved map.
V) both the agreement are not registered fm court/registaar office despite express order of concerned ssp.
Vi) my both brothers illegally denying my share in the house and sending many representations to my department by themselves and their wives.
Vii) previously one of my brother purchased a flat at gurgaon with my late father's gratuity and i have also contributed as loan and another property purchased at new palam vihar with my second brother's name by using contribution of my late father's payable dues and also fm me. My both brothers are not ready to give back my share in the property and one of the reason for harrashing me for upsurp/grab all joint properties. At the time of purchase of two properties we were living in un-divided hindu family.

Emi deposited by me fm the date of taking the loan mentioned as un-accounted amount in the legal notice served from my brothers.

My case is common to personnel who are serving in Armed Forces who are posted far away from their native place and relatives of such personnel are eyeing on the salary & various allowances they are getting. Due to their very meager expenditure at duty place being providing free boarding & lodging by department and they are very disciplined and always try to out of any illegal activity having close look of conduct by their department.

Kindly intimate legal status of the case.

View all articles by Mark Paul Every business would want to protect itself against threats, external or internal. Nowadays, with hackers and the possibility of viruses affecting software and computers, it has become even more important for businesses to take measures to minimize the risk caused by such threats. This is because their systems have important data and information stored in them. These could be related to the tax returns of businesses, the future plans of the business to grow and the expenditure of the business.

Those businesses that carry out research and development may have stored data on their systems related to tests and experiments that have not yet been carried out or experiments that have been carried out but aren?t to be released till the right time. All such businesses would like to safeguard themselves from the possibility of losing such data, permanently, to viruses, hackers and other such threats.

Other businesses may want to preserve data so that they can progress and improve their efficiency and management, so that they can compete in a world where so many businesses and companies seek to cut down their competition by spending a colossal amount of funds just so they can get an edge over their competition. There is, however, a cheaper way to compete in the world of today and for a business to protect itself- that is to opt for Linear Tape Open technology. The LTO can help a business protect its valuable data in a cheaper and more effective way. The LTO is known as the trendsetter in backup technology that introduced media interoperability. It can be used by businesses to make a duplicate copy of the information and data stored on the systems.

The HP LTO ultrium 3 is one such tape storage solution that could help a business save itself from external and internal threats. The HP LTO 3 tape drive comes with an amazing data transfer speed of 60MB per second, WORM capability and a native storage capacity of 400GB. Think of the tape drive as a DVD-ROM and of the tape as a DVD disk. The drive is where the tape is inserted into, and with the added storage capacity of the HP LTO 3 tape drive there are additional advantages.

The HP LTO 3 cartridge, part number C7973A, also has a large storage capacity (400GB for native data and 800GB for compressed data). The backward compatibility of the tape allows it to read and tape data from older versions of the LTO. In addition to this, the tape has an archival life of 30 years and most of the advantages of the previous models have been doubled in the HP LTO 3 tape devices.

Their low operating cost and wider availability make it more superior to competing tape-based solutions. Most compelling feature is the unique multi vendor compatibility that extends the customers? investment and also reduces complexity in heterogeneous LTO ultrium environment. Companies feel confident that they have invested in the best solution when they purchase HP-branded backup products.

LTO 2 tape cartridges are very robust, reliable and cost efficient. High performance VXA tapes, SDLT tapes, LTO tapes, DDS tapes, AIT tapes, RDX cartridges and HP C7973A, LTO3 cartridges are available at Odsi.co.uk, at low price.
