NASHUA ? Downtown patrons were able to enjoy meals in the 80-degree weather outside Thursday, after city officials lifted a much-maligned city ordinance banning dining on public sidewalks until April. Life quickly pumped into Main Street restaurant fronts around noon, as city Permit Coordinator Lori Barrett hand-delivered permits to businesses with proper insurance to serve customers on city sidewalks. ?The Mayor?s liaison just called us,? said Chris Fokas, owner of Martha?s Exchange. ?We?re scrambling. We?re setting up outside, and we?re full already.? On Thursday, the Mayor?s office announced that the city?s sidewalk sweeping was completed Wednesday night for the streets and sidewalks looking for outdoor dining. ?I noticed that the streets were done when I came in this morning,? Terry Wade, owner of the City Room Cafe, said Thursday. ?It?s a good thing, because people want to be outside. ...
