CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina amassed more than $467,000 in legal fees to outside firms from June 2010 through October 2011 due to an NCAA investigation into the football program.?

In an email Friday, school spokeswoman Karen Moon said no state money was used to pay the bill. Instead, money came from the university's foundation and the athletics department.?

The school hired Rick Evrard from the firm Bond, Schoeneck & King in Overland Park, Kan., in 2010 during the investigation of improper benefits and academic misconduct. UNC added William King from Lightfoot, Franklin and White of Birmingham, Ala., in January 2011.?

The fees ran through UNC's appearance before the NCAA infractions committee.??

The school released documents earlier this week showing legal fees totaled nearly $67,000 from June to September 2010 to Evrard's firm.
